New statistics – posted by SC Magazine show internal theft at a rate of 30% for 08 (down from some earlier data which Michael cites in this VOD), however most of the thefts overall in 08 occurred with data at rest (about 70%). This includes database theft, laptops etc. In other words, this is not a perimeter security problem. I appreciate your latest book MIcheal – Into the Breach is right on – people need to be informed and accountable for the data they create and access.
